Job Summary:
Business Affairs generates POs, processes invoices, handles contracts/agreements and 3rd-party clearances, estimates talent session and residual or buyout fees, negotiates licensed music, tracks usage expiration dates, and ensures jobs are actualized and archived. Works closely with Producers, Program Managers, Creative and Finance/Procurement Departments.

**Responsibilities**:

- Review creative materials and advise teams on any talent and legal implications and escalate to the company's counsel as necessary
- Prepare video and radio talent estimates for production. Advises production on most cost-effective ways / options for hiring talent.
- Advise on all union (SAG-AFTRA, ACTRA, AFM, etc.) rules and regulations
- Procure celebrity talent - from research on availability and terms to the final deal memo.
- Negotiates a fair and reasonable agreement with talent agents when the commercial’s maximum period of use has expired and the talent elects to renegotiate
- Process talent payments through session reports, completion of final cast lists, pay and track all talent reuse.
- Communicate directly with the company's driver talent to secure releases and compensate with gift cards.
- Negotiate usage rights to third party licensing/clearance (image, footage, music, quotes, etc.)
- Trademark searches
- Research music compositions or recordings to see if track is available for licensing. Work to procure synchronization and master rights, if needed. Assess related costs for proposed use, including payment of any applicable SAG, AFTRA and AFM residuals.
- Prepare all contracts related to production including production contracts, music contracts, talent contracts and purchase requisitions/orders. Liase with the company's Legal on redlines as necessary.
- Work with the company's internal Risk Analyst to ensure productions are risk compliant and secure supplemental insurance coverage as necessary. - Manage all network and cable clearances.
- Additional duties as required.

Desired Skills and Experience
- Must have advertising agency experience
- Brand side experience a plus
- Working knowledge of SG, AFTRA and AFM union contracts
- Familiar with legal and clearance issues
- Thorough understanding of broadcast production
- Ability to negotiate
- Need to have a problem-solving attitude
- Be organized and able to multitask
- Minimum of three years’ experience in Business Affairs and/or Broadcast Production
- Knowledge of copyright, trademark, and licensing or advertising law
