About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Medical Affairs Director to join our team at Avidity Biosciences, Inc. as a key member of our Medical Affairs department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Global Medical Team members and regional/local Medical Teams to develop and manage the execution of Medical Strategy and other plans for Avidity's key programs.
  • Proactively identify critical milestones, interdependencies, risks, and resource constraints that could impact plans/timelines; collaborate with teams to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Effectively communicate actions, decisions, timelines, risks and changes to any program strategies or plans.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. Finance, Legal, Commercial etc.) to drive execution.
  • Optimize communication within and between teams, in and outside of meetings, and at varying organizational levels.
  • Develop and deliver critical presentations to communicate medical strategy and plans.
  • Rapidly integrate new information into existing plans.
  • Create and maintain project timelines; drive the use of consistent project management tools and best practices within the Medical Affairs team.
  • Support manager and others by assisting with recruitment, onboarding and Medical Affairs personnel.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement efforts in the Medical Affairs team by sharing best practices, identifying cross-project opportunities/dependencies/efficiencies, assessing key performance metrics and establishing best practices across GMA.
  • Initiate, implement, and support Medical Affairs programs and working platforms (e.g. Veeva, Within3, SharePoint, Smartsheets, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures, as well as US healthcare laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required, Program Manager Certification required.
  • 15+ years of industry experience within Medical Affairs; 8+ years in a management or leadership role, ideally within a cross-functional matrixed environment.
  • Strategic Thinking: possesses the ability to both see the big picture and drill down on details; think strategically and execute tactical plans.
  • Meeting Management: excellent meeting planning and facilitation skills.
  • Project Management: highly proficient at both building and maintaining Gantt charts, tracking systems, spreadsheets and tools that support a systematic and scalable approach to managing projects.
  • Problem Solving: proactive and effective problem solver who works well with others; proven ability to manage complex and challenging situations to drive to clarity.
  • Business Sense: has a strong business sense and can decipher priorities and make sound judgment calls when needed.
  • Initiative and Resourcefulness: works independently, anticipates the needs of Global Medical Directors to help mitigate problems ahead of time, and solves problems without needing guidance or direction.
  • Communication: excellent writing and oral communication skills; ability to present key information objectively and in an organized fashion.
  • Team Player: has a team-oriented approach.
  • Excellence in Execution: ability to execute accurately and with a sense of urgency; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel as needed for 15-20%.
What We Offer
  • The base salary range for this role is $227,600 - $251,500. The final compensation will be commensurate with such factors as relevant experience, skillset, internal equity and market factors.
