Social Issues in Medicine (SIM) is a required course for first-year medical students. Students learn to recognize and analyze the interrelationships between socio-cultural environments and the occurrence, prevention, and treatment of disease while identifying and nurturing professional values that support the humanistic and ethical practice of medicine. The course employs a service-learning pedagogical framework, providing students the opportunity to engage in community activities that support classroom learning.

The Curriculum Administrator has administrative oversight of all aspects of the SIM program and will work closely with the faculty Director to implement course objectives. The Curriculum Administrator functions as a liaison between students, administration, program directors, and community partners and is responsible for recruitment, records maintenance, communications, adherence to accreditation requirements, and curriculum support.

**Duties may include, but are not limited to**:

- Collaborate with Director, School of Medicine Leadership, and community partners to ensure achievement of the shared educational mission of the course and School.
- Conduct regular in-person site visits with ~30 community partners (local travel is required).
- Communicate closely with faculty and students regarding program logistics and requirements. Communicate and monitor compliance of relevant policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring adherence to the standards and elements set by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
- Mentor students and assist with tracking and communicating progress. Resolve student-related issues related to academics, policies and procedures, and degree completion.
- Coordinate program evaluation and recommend improvements and changes based on feedback.
- Collect and interpret data on student affairs regarding recruitment, enrollment, progress, retention, and graduation of program participants.
- Provide support to the program Director in a variety of administrative tasks.
- Collaborate with program Director to provide ongoing budget management and fulfill reporting requirements.
- Schedule space and organize materials for course and events in VMED. Prepare and distribute instructional materials and course information.
- Plan and organize events (prepare invitations, manage catering, ensure needed supplies and resources are available, communicate event information with stakeholders, etc.)
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

**Minimum Requirements**:
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Experience: Two years of experience, preferably providing administrative support to a medical education program.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience working in higher education, an academic health care institution, and/or supporting medical education programs/curriculum.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally.
- Ability to anticipate needs and comfort functioning in a fast-paced multi-taking environment.
- Attentive to detail.
- Strong computer skills.
- Proficiency in in VMED, OASIS, Zoom, and M365 Suite.

**Physical Demands**:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

This is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance.

This position will remain open until filled. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. A completed pre-employment health screen is required for this position prior to employment.
