Performs a wide variety of laboratory tests by manual methods or use of various automated, mechanical or electronic devices. Performs the full range of duties from specimen procurement through data analysis and reporting, in order to provide data for use in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease in all areas of the lab. Is accountable for accurate results.

**Responsibilities**:
**Essential Job Functions**:

- Performs the full range of duties including but not limited to all preanalytical processes and testing through data analysis and reporting. Maintains required records of test conducted, preparing reports as needed. 50%
- Participates in a full range of quality assurance and compliance functions including equipment maintenance and repairs, assists in reviewing existing procedures and participates in developing and evaluating new procedures. 40%
- Oversees the work of technical support staff to ensure proper procedures and techniques are followed. Participates in teaching programs including staff training. 10%

**Required Qualifications**:

- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Must be willing to work variable shifts and overtime as required
- Must be willing to testify in court regarding testing activities if subpoenaed
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Current CA CLS License
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
