**Duties**:
The Office of Strategic Materials Production Modernization provides management and prioritization of all work focused on recapitalization of facilities and capabilities, new major construction projects, development and procurement of technologies, and strategic investments to ensure the modernization and sustainment of the nation's capabilities to produce tritium gas, new sources of enriched uranium, and components for the secondary stage of nuclear explosive packages in support of the stockpile. The organization coordinates closely with other NNSA program offices to develop integrated policies, requirements, planning, assessments, and strategies to ensure the availability of critical capabilities for stockpile sustainment and production modernization.

As the Assistant Deputy Administrator for Strategic Materials Production Modernization, you will be responsible for the following:

- Providing leadership, program management direction, policy oversight, and technical knowledge to NNSA's tritium, enriched uranium, and secondary stage modernization missions. Ensures the development and sustainment of key capabilities, to include facilities and equipment to produce tritium gas, enriched uranium, and materials and components for nuclear explosive package's secondary stage, necessary to support current and future work for Defense Programs.
- Identifying and balancing risks across the NNSA's tritium, enriched uranium, and secondary stage modernization missions, including making risk-based funding allocation decisions.
- Leading teams composed of other experts to conduct extensive, complex, and sensitive technical audits,
reviews, evaluations, studies, and other efforts related to tritium, enriched uranium, and secondary stage modernization.
- Advising NNSA leadership on nuclear stockpile material related inputs, requirements, analysis, and evaluations and develops options to resolve conflicts impacting tritium, enriched uranium, and secondary state modernization.
- Communicating project updates to the NNSA Administrator, DOE officials, and external stakeholders, including the Department of Defense, the Office of Management and Budget, Congress, state and local officials, and non-governmental organizations.

**HOMELAND SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE (HSPD-12)**: A selectee's appointment is contingent upon compliance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) governing personal identity. May be required to pass a pre-employment drug test, random testing after appointment.

**PUBLIC FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE REPORT (OGE 278)**: If you are selected for this position, will be required to file this report prior to entry on duty in accordance with the Ethics of Government Act of 1978.
**PROBATIONARY PERIOD**: An individual's initial SES career appointment becomes final only after the individual successfully completes a one-year probationary period.
**SECURITY CLEARANCE**:Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.

**MOBILITY**: A mobility agreement may be required based on mission needs.
