**Job Summary**: The Veterinary Technician is a vital member of the veterinary team, providing essential care and support to patients and assisting veterinarians in various procedures. The role requires a compassionate individual with a strong commitment to animal welfare and a keen attention to detail.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Patient Reception**: Greet patients/clients in the lobby, take vitals, and obtain patient history for the veterinarian.
- **Assisting with Procedures**: Aid veterinarians during examinations and procedures as needed.
- **Medical Documentation**: Accurately document all patient information in medical records.
- **Patient Care**: Demonstrate safe patient restraint techniques and position patients for x-rays using proper radiographic methods.
- **Phlebotomy and IV Care**: Perform phlebotomy, place IV catheters, administer oral medications, and give injections via SQ, IM, and IV routes.
- **Laboratory Work**: Prepare and run lab tests, including bloodwork, urinalyses, cytologies, heartworm tests, and other in-house lab work. Also, prepare samples for external lab analysis.
- **Prescription Management**: Create and fill prescriptions accurately under the veterinarian’s direction. Call prescriptions into pharmacies and document details.
- **Financial Administration**: Review treatment estimates with clients and doctors. Enter financial information for appointments.
- **Anesthesia Care**: Induce and monitor anesthesia safely. Assist in surgical and emergency procedures when necessary.
- **Patient Monitoring**: Care for hospitalized patients and monitor their condition closely.
- **Client Communication**: Follow up with clients post-appointment. Assist with phone calls during peak times. Communicate effectively with clients, showing compassion and respect.
- **Clinic Maintenance**: Maintain a positive attitude, friendly demeanor, clinic cleanliness, and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment.

**Qualifications**:

- Certification as a Veterinary Technician preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of veterinary procedures and animal care.
- Strong communication skills with both clients and veterinary staff.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: From $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
