**Position Summary**

The Professional Development Associate I is responsible for supporting in coordinating, planning, and implementing the successful professional development programs that serve the career development needs of diverse segments of the Society’s membership. Professional development programs include live workshops and events, including at the SfN annual meeting, and web-based projects developed throughout the year.

**Essential Job Functions**
- Support and coordinate the development of SfN’s online professional development initiatives, including webinars, live chats, toolkits, articles, and podcasts.
- Provide administrative support for and assist in the execution of professional development events at the SfN annual meeting, including NeuroJobs Career Center, the Professional Development Workshop series, the Career Development Topics: A Networking Event, and the Women in Neuroscience Event.
- Facilitate activities of the Professional Development Committee by managing logistics for meetings (in-person and online), preparing and presenting meeting materials in areas of responsibility, taking meeting minutes, etc.
- Provide support to the staff liaison for the PDC subcommittees and working groups by coordinating logistics, taking minutes, and assisting in activity/program implementation.
- In collaboration with the Sr. Manager of Scientific Training and Professional Development, manage the day-to-day operations and customer relations for the NeuroJobs Career Center and serve as the primary point of contact for the NJCC vendor.
- Support the development and implementation of year-round resources and events for Trainee Professional Development Award recipients.
- Support the development and implementation of communication plans for SfN’s live and web-based professional development programming alongside internal and external stakeholders.
- Process and track procurements and reimbursements related to projects/activities in assigned areas of responsibility and maintain related databases and tracking systems.
- Conduct relevant research to support the development, planning, and implementation of new and ongoing department initiatives.
- Support drafting of copy for social media initiatives and other promotional needs of the department.
- Provide overall administrative support to the department.

***Education and Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university required.

***Qualifications**
- Familiarity with professional development, diversity, and career path needs, including national trends, is preferred.

**Language Ability**:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

**Computer Skills**:
To perform this job successfully, the incumbent should have strong skills with MS Office and ability to learn new software.
