The Public Health Program Manager provides leadership and strategic direction to the implementation of strategies identified in the Alzheimer’s Association subaward to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) BOLD action plan and collaborate with statewide partners to advance Illinois’ dementia infrastructure through a public health approach to brain health and health equity. The Manager is responsible for delivering risk reduction, brain health and early detection education programs, working closely with the IDPH and BOLD Coalition partners to ensure the effectiveness of the statewide coalition, and facilitating implementation of priority activities identified under the Healthy Brain Initiative (HBI) Road Map.

This is a grant funded position.

**Responsibilities**

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Implementation of the Alzheimer’s Association subaward for the Illinois BOLD Strategies
- Serve as the primary BOLD liaison between the Alzheimer’s Association and IDPH.
- Lead and oversee Risk Reduction, Brain Health, and Early Detection campaigns across Illinois.
- Identify and develop partnerships with key state agencies in Illinois to execute the campaigns on Risk Reduction, Brain Health, and Early Detection.
- Develop a plan to track, evaluate, and disseminate findings to support best practices for brain health, early detection, and support for caregivers and people living with dementia.
- Collaborate with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and BOLD Public Health Center of Excellence to execute the grant strategies.
- Have regularly scheduled meetings with IDPH to discuss and deliberate on BOLD activities and progress.
- In conjunction with IDPH, recruit multi sector diverse partners and coordinate communication to maximize collaborative efforts.
- Provide information and education to BOLD coalition members on ADRD-related topics.
- Orient and educate new partners about brain health to enable them to share information with their communities.
- Partner with coalition members to educate providers about risk reduction, early detection, diagnosis, and clinical trials/treatment eligibility.
- Collaborate with the Region 9 Health Systems Director to Identify and engage suitable health systems to improve awareness and access to services.
- Partner with public health agencies, the BOLD Centers of Excellence, and other chronic disease organizations to address access to education and services on modifiable risk factors to improve the social determinants of health that impact brain health.
- Partner with other agencies to facilitate the implementation of priority HBI Road Map activities.
- Develop and build strategic partnerships with community organizations in diverse and underserved communities to educate and empower community leaders to be the designated resource/liaison for all things dementia related in their communities.
- Partner with educational systems (K-12, post-secondary, college, young adults) to include brain health and dementia in their curriculum.
- Educate and provide the general public with information on services and resources for people living with dementia and their caregivers.
- Identify and oversee partnership with communications agencies to implement evidence-based marketing communications, culturally responsive messaging, and awareness in compliance with the Association’s standards.
- Collaborate with the chapter cross-functional team on partner engagement and reach.
- Complete all necessary reporting and evaluation requirements as defined in the subaward.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred, in social work, geriatrics, public health or related field.
- One to three years’ experience working with people living with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias.
- One to three years ‘experience working with a communications/marketing agency.
- Three to five years’ experience in project management.
- Three to five years’ experience in program development.
- Awareness/understanding of dementia as a public health issue and the role of early intervention in delaying cognitive decline.
- Familiarity with the diverse communities that make up Illinois.
