The** Associate Director for Employer Engagement** is a member of the Career Center Leadership Team and works directly with the Director and other Associate Directors to establish and manage the strategic vision for career services at Boston College, to promote collaborative work within and beyond the department to ensure students have positive career outcomes, and to create a welcoming and inclusive environment within the Career Center.

Specifically, the Associate Director leads the five-person employer engagement team to set the strategic vision for employer engagement, making sure it aligns with overall departmental and divisional priorities and goals. The person in this role advances the Career Center’s mission by conducting a proactive employer outreach campaign and overseeing the employer engagement and recruiting programs for Boston College students. Their focus will be on: promoting Boston College students to employers, alumni, parents, friends of the university, and other external constituents; diversifying outreach to employers who reflect the diverse interests and needs of the student body; leveraging alumni connections; and strategically building relationships with current and prospective employers as well as with key departments across campus.

The Associate Director also oversees all aspects of employer engagement activities, including new employer partnerships, job and internship development, on-campus interviews and recruiting events, career fairs and networking nights, corporate relationships, and other related programs.

The Career Center embraces the value of a Jesuit liberal arts education, which prepares students to discern their gifts and talents and how they want to use them to engage the world. As the Career Center is committed to addressing issues around diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our work, the Associate Director is responsible for developing an overall strategy that proactively works to create and promote equitable and inclusive hiring practices. Additionally, the Associate Director also must be genuinely committed to engaging in meaningful dialogue and pursuing action that will improve social and racial justice.

Position Responsibilities:

- Serve as a member of the Career Center leadership team, who will work together to ensure the Career Center develops a full range of programs, services, and resources to address the broad scope of students’ career needs and achievement of meaningful post-graduate outcomes.
- Develop a strategic vision and direction to expand opportunities for employer outreach and engagement, internships, and post-graduation employment. Identify industries with the greatest growth potential for our student body and in alignment with BC’s expanding academic disciplines / departments; set ambitious goals for new employer relationships; and determine ROI and clear metrics of success and for all employer engagement touchpoints, including career fairs, networking events, and on-campus information sessions and interviews.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the employer engagement team, including on-campus recruitment, recruitment-focused events, and targeted outreach to employers.
Provide supervision for the employer engagement team, including four (4) professional staff members, one (1) graduate student, and up to three (3) undergraduate student workers.
- Expand opportunities for interactions between employers and students through industry-specific career fairs, networking events, career treks, and other creative offerings. Serve as the primary point of contact for recruiting-related events and programs for one or more industry Career Clusters.
- Collaborate with the leadership team of the Career Center, the Alumni Association, University Advancement, administrators and faculty to develop strong relationships with corporations, alumni, parents, and other members of the Boston College community.
- Utilize technology (e.g., Handshake and PeopleGrove) to maximize opportunities for students to connect with employers, alumni, and organizations.
- Regularly communicate key employer / recruitment trends and activity reports to the Career Center staff to help us remain informed and current on the industry information we share with students.
