The ARS will work closely with members of the lab advancing new CRISPR- and transposon-based projects. The ARS will be expected to participate and engage intellectually in the lab’s research goals, and to this end, will work closely with other colleagues in a highly motivated, collaborative environment. The ARS should anticipate working on multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously, and will be responsible for defining new research directions for the lab and delegating project responsibilities to other lab members. The ARS will also be expected to perform a number of critical bioinformatics and computational responsibilities for lab projects, including, but not limited to, comparative genomics analyses, genome annotation, protein phylogenetic analyses, maintenance of the laboratory Amazon Web Services account, and maintenance of lab computer clusters.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, or related discipline, and a minimum of 7 years of laboratory research experience.
Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications:
- Applicant must have strong knowledge of chemistry, biology, microbiology, and bioinformatics.
- Applicant must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and should be comfortable advancing existing research projects and conceiving of entirely new research directions.
- The applicant must be a team player and enjoy/excel working collaboratively in groups.
Pay: $78,155.00 - $91,000.00 per year
