Responsible for being the leader in all human resource functions. Provides support to the BGS managers, supervisor, and employees in the areas of employment relations, recruitment, selection and retention, benefits, compensation, and employee training and professional development.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Develops and maintains personnel policies and procedures that comply with State and Federal laws and are consistent with the BGS philosophy.
- Remains informed and up to date on all government regulations affecting company policies and human resources practices.
- Develops policies and implements changes to comply with any changing government regulations.
- Develops and monitors various metrics and analytics used to evaluate effectiveness of various HR programs and activities.
- Coordinates staffing activities including recruitment, selection, interviewing, and hiring of exempt level positions.
- Ensures that company compensation program is competitive in the marketplace and consistent with company compensation philosophy.
- Keeps records of insurance coverage, pension plans, insurance plans, ESOP and personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, and transfers, performance reviews, termination, and other employee related records.
- Investigates WC (Workman’s Compensation) accidents and prepares reports for insurance carrier.
- Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Prepares, reports, and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism, tardiness, and turnover.
- Represents BGS at personnel-related UI (Unemployment and Insurance) claims, hearings, and investigations.
- Leads the ESOP Committee, direct and coordinate various activities designed to promote and maintain a high level of employee morale.
- Takes the necessary actions to create an atmosphere conducive to the best possible employee-employer relationship.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping human resource information confidential.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
- Performs other duties as necessary or required.

**Supervisory Responsibilities**

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of supervisory and non-supervisory personnel. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assisting, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

**Education and/or Experience**

Degree in Business or Human Resource Management from four-year college or university; or three to five years of human resource management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong interpersonal skills as well as work planning, scheduling, and communication.

**Language Skills**

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and employees.
