Setup Specialist

**JOB SUMMARY**:
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Perform duties necessary to setup, adjust and operate a limited variety of Spring Making Machines and associated equipment. Identify tooling requirements and where necessary maintain (with some assistance if necessary) tooling, fixtures, holding devices and other machine or equipment accessories. Setup and operate (with some assistance if necessary, upon completion of proper training) machine tools such as mills, lathes, grinders, etc. to maintain tooling or work in conjunction with an Engineer and or toolmaker or more experienced personnel to maintain tooling. Develop, modify or improve CNC and NC machining programs to optimize production operations. Diagnose operating problems and take corrective action (with some assistance if necessary). Diagnose machine malfunctions and take necessary action to correct problems (with some assistance if necessary). Perform routine machine maintenance.

Work from schedules, drawings, specifications, job orders or special instructions. Select within limits or as instructed appropriate arbors, cams, discs, blocks, fixtures, mandrels and special tooling as necessary to meet production and quality requirements. Set up speed and feed mechanisms, stops, wire and material feeds following established procedures or standardized methods. Inspect first piece and in process to ensure compliance with quality and make necessary adjustments. Replace or repair dulled or broken tooling and fixtures as necessary. May be temporarily assigned to perform other tasks requiring comparable or lesser skill levels. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion and conform to all quality and safety procedures.

**QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS**:

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**:
Requires ability to use decimals and fractions, work from drawings and specifications, use adjustable precision measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers and other appropriate measuring equipment. Detailed blueprint reading and interpretation proficiency required. Experience of less than one year necessary to become proficient.

**LANGUAGE SKILLS**:
Requires the ability to work from both written and verbal instructions.

**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS**:
Requires use of shop math including decimals and fractions, English and metrics, primarily in the development of tooling requirements to produce required bends, angles, loops, and other configurations.

**REASONING ABILITY**:
Requires reasoning ability to modify setup and processing procedures, diagnose and take corrective action for operating problems and machine or equipment malfunctions.

**OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES**:
Requires ability to modify NC and/or CNC programming (with some assistance if necessary).

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**:
Light to moderate physical demands. May on occasion require some heavy lifting or positioning.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**:
Typical shop working conditions with limited exposure to undesirable conditions.

Pay: From $25.46 per hour

Expected hours: 8 per week
