**SUMMARY OF POSITION**:
**A design assistant is responsible for assisting designers in the day-to-day tasks and help to provide exceptional service to home buyers.**

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Coordinate and assemble job files for design consultants for use during design selection appointments.
- Meet with Designers as necessary to facilitate design information, spec home selections, or clarify Buyer selections.
- Conference with Buyers when needed to obtain selections, signatures, missing or clarify conflicting information.
- Prepare ‘program brochures’ for options offered during the selection appointment when samples aren’t available to view in person. (Appliances, plumbing, sinks, lighting, etc)
- Load Final DC packets for buyers as well as spec inventory homes into DocuSign for final signatures. Save these final packets to job file once complete.
- Guide buyers through the reselect process and handle updating all the necessary paperwork and coordinating with vendors.
- Greeting all customers upon their arrival.
- Keep design showroom in order and looking presentable as well as archive sample room.
- Miscellaneous office tasks - routine filing, scanning, copying as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned

**EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE**
- Strong inter-personal and technical skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities or projects highly desired. Ability to interact well with multiple external end users.
- Interest in the home building process and the design elements involved in that process.
- Exceptional communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Some experience or education in design/home building/construction is helpful but not required.
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and time management skills
- Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Experience reading and interpreting architectural plans, scopes of work, specifications and design diagrams highly beneficial.
- Experience in Construction / P.O. driven software - i.e. Newstar, Sage, Buildsoft, FAST, BuildPro would be beneficial.
- Valid Driver’s License is required

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**:
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Vision abilities required by the job are close vision. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle, feel, and operate office equipment such as a computer, copier, and office supplies.

In addition, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with their arms and hands, and to stoop, kneel or crouch. Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the described essential functions of the job.
