The Basic Needs Department of the Long Beach Community College District is seeking qualified individuals for a current opportunity as the Basic Needs Coordinator. The incumbent is responsible for student and program advocacy, outreach and recruitment, and administrative functions. The Coordinator is responsible for providing day-to-day organizational and technical coordination of programs and services organized through the Basic Needs Program area. This position provides some administrative coverage for the department; specific duties may differ by assignment and responsibilities will vary depending on the types of student groups, facilities and student events/activities that are delegated. We are looking for someone who has a Bachelor's degree in education, social work, human services, psychology, social sciences or a closely related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience working in an educational environment or public program.

- ** Salary**:Range 30 $5,095.09 - $6,274.73
- ** Eligibility list: Will be valid for 12 months **once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission. We reserve the right to use the established eligibility list for vacancies (permanent and temporary) in this classification as well as related classifications.
- ** Advanced salary placement**: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

**Duties**:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, supports the College’s programs, activities, and services for students experiencing basic needs insecurities of food, housing, transportation, and clothing. Provides students, staff, and others with specialized information, services, training, and assistance related to students’ holistic well-being including food, housing, clothing, mental health, academic and career services with referrals to on
- and off-campus resources. Supports with campus and community organizations to obtain resources for students and to promote student success, retention, and completion by removing barriers to their education; and performs a full range of complex program support and clerical assistance duties in support of the basic needs program area; and related duties as assigned.

**Education, Training and Experience**: Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, human services, psychology, social sciences or a closely related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience working in an educational environment or public program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
