**Job Summary**

Under the supervision of the Basic Needs Director, the incumbent assists with a variety of student-facing duties to support and coordinate the overall business and operational needs of the CalWORKs program within the Basic Needs department. The incumbent acts as the first point of contact for students, campus partners, County liaisons, and community college partners, and is responsible for intake and eligibility screening, including completing routine forms. Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts. ACPA’s 2024 Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Student and Community Partner Relations and Activities: Assist with responding to questions and or providing information on resources to campus partners regarding CalWORKs and related public benefits.
- Assist with Case Coordination: Assist with supporting general and pregnant-and-parenting students with CalWORKs eligibility and education, including other related public benefits.

**Knowledge Skills and Abilities**

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively handle a broad range of on and off-campus contacts including faculty, administrators, and community partners. Must have the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner during high-peak times throughout the semester. Must have the ability to learn computer software programs and platforms as needed to support the operations of the department. Must have the ability to work calmly and well under pressure. Ability to multi-task, meet follow through, and meet deadlines.

Excellent interpersonal skills and high level of self-motivation, and able to work independently. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals and maintain a positive and respectful attitude, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities, and the overall organization.

Ability to work effectively and productively as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues and coordinate well with others. Ability to exercise sound judgment and handle confidential matters with tact and diplomacy, and to maintain confidentiality of information as needed or to protect the rights of individuals and the University. Ability to maintain equanimity during difficult situations and or emergencies. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. **Education and Experience**
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
- Experience working with students with basic needs or CalWORKs cases at an educational level (K-12, community college, and/or University), preferred.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and on weekends.

**Physical Summary**

**Medium work -** Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits.

Possession of a valid California Driver's License in order to operate a university vehicle, preferred.

**Compensation**

**CSU Classification Salary Range**:The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,952 - $4,834 per month.

**Benefits**

Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.

**Time Base**

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

**Duration of Appointment**

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
