**Primary Purpose**: The person in this position will be responsible for directing, coordinating and improving the educational program in grades PK - 12 for performing and visual arts.- RESPONSIBILITIES:
**Major Responsibilities and Duties**

**Instructional Management**
- Direct the District’s performing and visual arts instructional program.
- Supervise the selection and adoption of general instructional materials including textbooks and multimedia materials.
- Plan and implement staff development activities for all performing and visual arts areas.
- Supervise the development, preparation and implementation of curriculum guides for use by performing and visual arts teachers.
- Work with fine arts teachers to organize and implement competitions and productions.
- Work with performing arts teachers and principals in submitting request to the school Board for out-of-state trips for students in accordance with District policy.
- Keep performing arts teachers informed and up to date regarding applicable TEA and UIL rules.
- Provide feedback on the effectiveness of instructional programs to teachers and administrators.
- Support the implementation of the District curriculum in performing and visual arts.
- Assist in the district improvement planning process.
- Attend and, if appropriate, facilitate content specific meetings in fine arts areas.
- Coordinate District‘s Rodeo Art Show.
- Coordinate the District Collaborative Concert.
- Coordinate district level parades.
- Develop and administer the fine arts programs budget.
- Supervise the following programs: speech/debate and dance/drill team.
- Provide direction and supervision for performing arts curriculum and extracurricular activities.
- Disburse funds budgeted for inventory improvement, materials, supplies, uniform selection and maintenance, equipment repair, student awards, UIL and other competition costs.
- Coordinate plans with community leaders and fine arts teachers to arrange for school performing groups to participate in community events and programs.
- Maintain membership and participate in local, state and national organizations related to the fine arts.
- Attend trainings and stay current on content and strategies in the fine arts areas.
- Develop standardized specifications and processes for assessing needs for instruments, uniforms, equipment, textbooks and other instructional materials including copyrighted items such as plays and musicals.
- Attendance at work is an essential function.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.
- EXPERIENCE:
**Minimum Experience**:

- Three years of successful experience as a public school district administrator
- QUALIFICATIONS:
**Minimum Education/Certification**:

- Master’s Degree
- Hold a valid Texas certificate
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Eligible for coverage under the District’s vehicle insurance program

**Special Knowledge/Skills**:

- Have good interpersonal skills
- Have good communication skills
- Capable of technical writing of curriculum
- Capable of providing comprehensive staff development
- Expertise in a performing or visual arts field
