The Director of California Workforce Initiative for Support & Education-South (CalWISE-S) will report to the PI at UCLA and will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the execution of CalWISE-S's mission and consistent achievement of its goals. The CalWISE-S is currently comprised of the 10 graduate social work schools, and associated BSW programs, located in Southern California. In collaboration with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and CalWISE-N, CalWISE-S provides training and preparation for social workers as new hires and continuing education for Child Welfare supervisors and managers. While the mission of the CalWISE-S has been and remains to provide professional training that will enhance the skills of social workers, this position will support the implementation of various innovative changes, additions, and creation of new technology that will improve social worker training and improve outcomes of children and families. Fiscal responsibility: $ The CalWISE-S Director plays a critical analytical, administrative, and leadership role, working under the auspices of the university deans and directors, who set policy direction in concert with public agency leaders. The CalWISE-S Director facilitates positive relationships with public partners, leads impact evaluation, assists with problem definition and resolution in contractual agreements, and keeps CalWISE-S leaders informed about impending issues and cutting-edge best practices. The CALWISE-S Director coordinates the efforts of the experienced professionals who serve as Directors of the four CALWISE-S Centers on Child Welfare, organizing and supporting the delivery of training on a broad range of topics at locations across the county. The CalWISE-S Director works collaboratively with CDSS, CalWISE-N, and the program coordinators/managers to anticipate needs, coordinate responses, facilitate new training approaches, and manage a continuous performance improvement program. The Director manages and provides administrative leadership in developing and continually improving CalWISE-S/CalWISE-N databases and website operations. The ability to lead the development of an enhanced framework for holistic reporting on the accomplishments and impacts of the CALWISE-S is an essential element of the job of the CalWISE-S Director.**Salary & Compensation**

**Qualifications**
- Experience with public child welfare agencies (required)
- Experience with Title IV-E contracts. (preferred)
- Experience working in or with a large-scale urban public child welfare agency serving a diverse community. (preferred)
- Research or evaluation expertise including study design, statistical analysis, and reporting. (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in problem-solving, conflict resolution, mediation, consensus building, group facilitation, and coordination involving large public organizations (required)
- Capacity to achieve consensus while maintaining neutrality and trust, problem
- solve, consult and make recommendations to achieve shared goals and objectives. (required)
- Excellent organization, time management and execution skills. (required)
- Ability to set expectations effectively, follow up, organize groups, and successfully execute tasks and projects. (required)
- Expertise in establishing and working with networks, partnerships, associations of government and/or community non-profit organizations, including professionals in human services. (required)
- Demonstrated skills in multi-million dollar annual budget development and management. Experience in business contract writing and negotiation of statements of work. (required)
- Ability to use Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. (required)
- Knowledge of boilerplate terms and conditions used by large public agencies, together with experience with university contracts and terms and conditions. (preferred)
- Ability to work effectively with graduate social work faculty at all California universities and regional Training Centers. (preferred)
- Knowledge of graduate social work academic, administrative, and field education structures, culture, policies and procedures. (preferred)
- Current knowledge of leading trends in policy, practice, interventions, training, research, and literature in public child welfare. (preferred)
- Requires occasional travel throughout California to local universities, Training Centers, county offices, and county administrative and training locations; occasionally overnight, and sometimes within the continental
