**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The human resources department is dedicated to building a strong and healthy workplace by engaging and developing employees, building trust and teamwork, and providing excellent Human Resources services. Under the supervision of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Specialist will work closely with the HR Director on employee issues/concerns and will oversee the leave of absences/accommodations requests.

**DUTIES**:
Employee Relations
- Maintains a high level of professionalism. Discreetly handles sensitive and/or private information.
- Investigate assigned sensitive and/or complex employee relations matters which may include conducting intake, leading interviews, note-taking, gathering and/or analyzing evidence (electronic, physical, etc.)., document findings, and following up with the relevant parties.
- Document investigation and summarize findings in a report.
- Manage employee suggestion survey.

Leave of Absence /Accommodation Requests
- Oversee and administer Leave of Absence requests and accommodation requests. This includes: Bereavement Leave, FMLA, CFRA and other types of leaves.
- Communicates with employees regarding their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave.
- Handles leave administration process from the employee’s initial notice to the return to work.
- Maintains reasonable communication between employees, supervisors, and payroll within reason to facilitate a smooth and timely return to work.
- In collaboration with the human resources director, engages in an interactive process when managing an accommodation request.
- Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.
- Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
- Maintains knowledge of applicable leave and accommodation laws including FMLA, CFRA, ADA and local laws.

Other Duties
- Respond to employment verifications and employee verification letter requests.
- Manage Human Resources communication including HR Newsletter
- Lead Employee Engagement Committee
- Assist in conducting exit interviews for staff members who resign.
