The Program Coordinator will coordinate the Mentoring Youth in Virginia (MYVA) Program by working with refugee youths ages 15-24 in mentoring, training, skills development, and youth-focused programming in the community.

Essential Functions
- Maintain current knowledge of the U.S. Resettlement Program;
- Maintain current knowledge of all Refugee and Immigrant Services;
- Coordinate the MYVA Program for eligible youth clients out of the Virginia RIS office;
- Identify, enroll, and conduct intake for MYVA clients including orientation, completion of an individualized client plan, and onboarding for the mentoring program;
- Oversee the lifecycle of mentorship, including matching, training and development, tracking, and assessment;
- Provide ongoing support and monitoring of client progress towards educational, vocational, and social goals through regular in-person and virtual engagement with clients and their families;
- Provide regular opportunities and materials for youth to develop experience and skills in areas of leadership, self-esteem, civic engagement and community service, career and educational development, and financial literacy, through community engagement and research;
- Develop and implement a program strategy in consultation with the State Director and the Community Relations Director, and prepare required reports for submission to the Virginia Office of Newcomer Services;
- Work closely with the Community Relations Director or volunteer coordinator to manage recruitment, orientation, screening, and supervision of mentors;
- Compile existing and new resources to create a mentor manual and conduct monthly meetings with mentors for training and development;
- Administer, track, and report on client funds based on youth clients’ needs and goals;
- Timely and accurately enter all required data in the VNIS database;
- Conduct outreach for volunteer recruitment, community resources, and service provider referrals;
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Education
- Bachelor's degree (four-year college or technical school) required, in one of the following field(s) of study: social Work, social services, education, or related field.

Experience
- One (1) or more years of experience in teaching or working with youth;
- ESL/ESOL/English teaching experience preferred;
- Case management experience;
- Experience and knowledge of refugee or youth programs, preferably in VA.

Other Requirements
- Valid driver’s license;
- Clean driving record;
- A personal vehicle or access to a vehicle required;
- Background and drug screenings.

Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of the United States Resettlement Program;
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
- Strong public speaking/presentation skills;
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, Gmail and Google Docs a plus;
- Attention to detail and accuracy;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Knowledge of community resources and services systems;
- Fluency in one or more of the following languages preferred: Dari, Urdu, Pashto, or Arabic.
