**Hospital Overview**:
Braden River Animal Hospital is a very active veterinary practice located in Bradenton, Florida. We are a full-service animal hospital providing veterinary care such as routine medical, surgical, and dental care for dogs, cats, and some exotics, with six doctors practicing currently. We are seeking a dedicated, experienced individual whose duties will include (_but are not limited to)_ venipuncture, radiographic imaging, surgical prep/assisting/monitoring, recovery & nursing, client communication & education, patient handling, & pharmaceutical responsibilities.
**Our hospital is open 6 days a week. Monday-Friday from 8am-6pm and Saturdays from 8am-12pm**.
**Our Veterinary Technician’s responsibilities are to include**:
- Triaging patients, recording vitals, and acquiring patient history.
- Assisting Veterinarians in all routine and emergency patient care.
- Treatment and management of hospitalized patients.
- Discussing treatment plans, estimates, and payment options with clients.
- Acquiring cephalic, saphenous, and jugular blood samples.
- Inserting catheters, and monitoring anesthesia, ventilators, and fluid therapy.
- Administering medications, injections, and vaccinations.
- Performing digital radiographs.
- Operating autoclaves, centrifuge, and in-house lab machines.
- Processing specimens in the in-house laboratory and submitting to outside labs.
- Filling medications and providing dosing instructions to clients.
- Entering patient service charges into computer database, keeping accurate records.
- Explaining patient instructions to clients and providing educational material & resources.
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician.
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Flexible schedule. Seeking full time, 40 hours per week.
- Must possess strong communication skills, good judgment and be able to manage stressful situations as they come about.
- Must have the physical and mental capacity to perform in a fast paced and challenging environment, as we are a very active & busy practice.
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.
- Must be comfortable handling critical cases and emergencies, as well as emphasize the important of preventative care.
