Paid Gap Year Clinical Experience Opportunity

**Clinical experience opportunities**:

- Direct patient interaction: shadow and scribe for the physician

- Assist in conducting neurophysiology studies
- Assist in preparation of neurophysiology reports
- Participate in ongoing clinical research trials with the opportunity to serve as a research coordinator
- Opportunity to contribute to medical publications
- Periodic journal clubs and lecture series presented by physicians
- Gain experience with medical insurances
- Work with the physician utilizing hypoglossal and vagal nerve stimulators

**Required Tasks**:

- Enter new patients into electronic medical record system
- Triage incoming faxes and send outgoing faxes
- Verify insurance benefits for office visits and sleep studies
- Conduct daytime neurophysiology studies (with oversight)
- Prepare neurophysiology reports for physician review
- Prepare clinical charts for daily clinic
- Scribe for the physicians
- Prepare prescriptions in the electronic record for physician review and signature
- Provide assistance with clinical research projects
- Answering and returning telephone calls
- Scheduling appointments
- Collecting co-payments
- Submitting prior authorization requests for medications
