**Job Overview**
The Legal Intake Specialist, under general supervision, regularly serves as the first point of contact for all incoming subpoenas, records requests, agreements, etc. The incumbent at this level exercises independence in completing work assignments.
** Position Description**

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Coordinate intake and initial review and analysis of Public Information Requests; assist legal staff in redacting responsive documents from campuses and administration, based upon a strict timeline
- Coordinate intake and initial review and analysis of Subpoenas for the District for involving employee, student, and other records and other types of records including in criminal and family law matters, involving student records, assist with coordinating and overseeing timely compliance, provide support to legal staff and campuses in responding to subpoenas, prepare business affidavits
- Assist legal staff in preparing the official Board record for employee grievance hearings and student complaint hearings; schedule the hearings with all parties, prepare notice letters and prepare board agendas for hearing
- Coordinate the gathering of information, documents, reports, and physical evidence from various departments and campuses as necessary to respond to litigation discovery, complaints, in-house investigations, and grievance hearings
- Assist legal staff with the District’s Records Management program by facilitating three District-wide records destruction requests yearly; assist with management of the District’s records for both destruction and retention and providing assistance to campuses and departments
- Coordinate intake and initial review and analysis of Court Orders regarding Expunctions and Sealing of Files/Records, gather responsive documents, and assist legal staff in providing response to the Court
- Coordinate intake and initial review and analysis of District Contracts, MOUs and Interlocal Agreements
- Maintain a fully-indexed and cross-referenced bank of letters, documents, and articles previously produced by the General Counsel and Outside Counsel for future matters
- Provide assistance to General Counsel, as assigned

- High School diploma or GED
- Associate's degree preferred
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Professional demeanor, effective communication skills, personal integrity, self-starter and the ability to work with complex issues in a confidential and fast paced work environment
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload; ability to multi-task and perform on deadline
- Experience in public schools preferred

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
