Summary
The Regulatory Affairs Specialist will work with product development and manufacturing management to ensure that the product development process meets all applicable regulatory requirements. Monitors political, legislative, and regulatory events and recommends appropriate organizational actions based on established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
•Coordinates with product development and/or research and development teams to request, develop, and prepare required data and reports to be submitted to regulatory bodies and agencies.
•Collaborates with key staff from Planning, Product Development, Operations, and Legal departments as required.
•Notifies Regulatory Affairs Manager when compliance issues arise or are identified, when regulatory reports are delayed, and when other immediate action is required.
•Serves as a representative for the regulatory affairs department at process review meetings.
•Working under the direction of the Vice President-Government Operations, and with additional oversight of the Vice President-External Affairs, incumbent is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic government relations and communications actions for ABS targeted towards key policy and decision makers in the US Government.
•Advises API leadership on impact of government policies on the execution of company mission and develops pro-active actions to address any identified concerns.
•In coordination with the Vice President and General Counsel, manages API and its affiliated companies' adherence to relevant ethical and public disclosure requirements related to lobbying Members of Congress, Congressional Staff, and Executive Branch officials.

Minimum qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in related field required.
•Two years of related experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in political science, Communications, or other related discipline.
•A graduate degree or professional degree preferable.
•5+ years of experience preferred.

Skills:
•Extensive knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations and the ability to stay current on regulations.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
