**Salary range**:$75,000 - $96,500. Salary based on experience.

**Position Description**
We seek an experienced, full-time **K-8 Library Media Specialist **who is compelled by the School’s
mission and committed to providing resources and education to our entire learning community.
This role works with teachers to provide resources that enhance the curriculum in alignment with
our Core Values and Statement of Inclusivity. Through the lens of social justice, students will be
supported in becoming media-literate, critical-thinking digital citizens. This embodies the
following: (1) supporting students in becoming information literate and finding resources for
personal and academic exploration, (2) learning how to make connections to the world around
us through literature and media, (3) learning how to discern information (how to make good
choices, evaluate resources, and think critically), (4) building a strong foundation in researching
skills and resource selection, and (5) learning how to ask/formulate questions that lead to action.

**Responsibilities**

**Management of the Library Collection and Digital Resources**
- Order new books and weed collection to be updated, current, and aligned with our

core values and reect diverse authors and content
- Catalog and process new resources (books, magazines, videos, etc)
- Update and maintain the library space and materials to reflect a warm space of
- belonging reective of the voices of our student body
- Stay current with new literature and resources
- Collaborate with teachers to support their curricular needs with diverse resources that are
- Review and vet books and digital resources for content aligned with our school’s mission,
- Core Values, and Statement of Inclusivity
- Work with students to explore and support their interests and passions
- Maintain/purchase digital resources (eBooks, databases, websites) based on curricular needs
- Curate digital content resources for students to use while researching
- Maintain and create online digital catalog (Destiny Follett)
- Create culturally responsive resources such as book lists and digital resources for teachers
- and students
- Work closely with and manage volunteers on the daily operations of the library as well as

our annual Book Fair fundraiser

**Instruction of Media, Research, and Digital Citizenship Skills**
- Collaborate with our Innovation and Technology team to create and support the

school’s vision of media, Innovation, and Digital Citizenship across K-8.
- Serve as lead teacher for K-4 library classes and Grade 5 Digital Literacy classes
- Teach students how to responsibly nd and use information using print and digital
- sources for research
- Teach research and information literacy skills (how to think critically, use, analyze, and
- evaluate informational resources)
- Guide students in making connections to literature, community, self, and research
- Collaborate with teachers and assist students in research projects
- Introduce students to new books/resources related to classwork and leisure
- Work with teachers to assist them with research/assignments
- Collaborate and integrate with teachers how to make connections from the skills they
- Teach students how to formulate questions, utilize resources, assess resources and self,
- collaborate, nd details, reect and create
- Teach students how to be respectful members of a community (digital and physical) by
- creating and implementing a digital citizenship curriculum
