Position Summary:
The Pacific Islander Education and Retention (PIER) Project Coordinator provides programmatic oversight, administrative direction, and management for the outreach project sponsored by the Student Initiated Outreach Committee (SIOC) and housed in the Student Initiated Outreach Center. The PIER Project Coordinator has responsibilities for the short and long term development and day-to-day operations of the project in collaboration with the project's Sponsoring Student Organization, Pacific Islands Student Association, and the Student Initiated Outreach Committee. The PIER Project Coordinator is fiscally responsible for their project and must adhere to budget guidelines and restrictions. The PIER Project Coordinator ensures that the project strives to provide educational support services that help and encourage youth in the Los Angeles area, specifically targeting the Pacific Islander community, become eligible for a post-secondary education.

Salary & Compensation: *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. - 4 years Relevant professional experience working with students at a university, college, and/or school setting. (required)
- Working knowledge, understanding, and comfortability working in a student-initiated, student-run working environment. (required)
- Ability to create reports and communicate utilizing Windows software including Microsoft Office in network environment. (required)
- Ability to independently prioritize assignments in relation to importance of responsibilities and deadlines and potential impact on project. (required)
- Ability to recognize problems and generate alternatives or offer solutions based on knowledge of procedures and existing guidelines. (required)
- Skill in interviewing, training and appraising student subordinates. (preferred)
- Skill in delegation of workflow to meet project's goals and objectives. (required)
- Knowledge of the current state of the admissions situation at UCLA and UC's in general. (preferred)
- Ability to work with students and staff from very diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. (required)
- Skill in student programming. (required)
- Skills in employing tutoring methodologies sufficient to assist students in making strategic plans about their future. (required)
- Knowledge of access and equity issues in public education and current state of the educational system in California public schools. (required)

- Bachelor's Degree (required)

- Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
