Spec Writer

This is a work-to-hire or permanent full-time role for a candidate who can work in a fast-paced, high volume, fashion environment while maintaining accuracy.

As a Spec Writer, one should be able to take direction from Sr. TD but be motivated to meet deadlines within a daily routine. A Spec Writer needs to be able to spec garments accurately to prepare for the TD fittings and maintain processes and upkeep of fit logs and deadlines.

Major Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.

• Proficient knowledge of POMs and how to accurately spec garments with an understanding of tolerances.

• Log/track samples maintained by fit lists.

• Prep samples for fittings, which includes: measuring, data entry with Excel, and pressing/steaming.

• Support Sr. TD in fittings to take clear and accurate notes.

• Assist in setting up images and specs into tech pack, creating/adding clear images/sketches as well as logging information into charts for the most updated information.

• Able to successfully collaborate with TD for daily priorities while being adaptable.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree in clothing related field or equivalent experience

• Experience with measuring garments

• Proficient in Excel/Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop

• Previous training/experience with industry-relevant software, such as web-based t/p systems.

• Basic hands-on knowledge of sewing
