The Stationary Engineer (Plant Operator) will be a key member of the TECO Plant Operations Department, responsible for the day-to-day operation and troubleshooting of the central utility plant and mechanical systems.

**Responsibilities**:

- The primary responsibility of the Stationary Engineer (plant operator) position is to provide skilled work in the operation of the central plant chilled water and steam system and combined heat and power plant.
- Monitor and maintain the central chilled water, steam power plant and related equipment, to include repairs and preventive maintenance for all associated equipment and systems.
- Conducts routine rounds of the Central Plant and associated buildings to inspect auxiliary pumps and equipment.
- Perform chemistry analysis, make necessary adjustments, data gathering and condition assessments on cooling tower, chilled water and boiler feed water.
- Records data (temperature, hours of operation, fuel consumption, water levels, etc.), reading dials, gauges, and manuals. Adjusts manual controls or overrides automatic controls to start or shut down equipment.
- Operates and maintains stationary engines and equipment such as steam turbines, boilers, air compressors, generators, gas turbines, and refrigeration equipment.
- Work with the Operations Shift Supervisor and operate the plant in accordance with approved procedures.
- Develop an understanding of troubleshooting of the plant, distribution system, interface systems and energy transfer stations. Work in a safe manner while following applicable regulatory requirements.
- Investigate, take corrective action, and report on plant equipment outages in an effort to minimize impact to plant efficiency.

**Qualifications**
- High School Diploma or GED is required. Additional studies and courses in a technical discipline would be a plus. Training, licenses, or certifications in plant operations considered advantageous.
- 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Grade City of Houston Stationary Engineers license or ability to obtain City of Houston Stationary Engineers license.
- One (1) to five (5) years’ experience in operations of central heating and cooling plants.
- Highly professional ethical standards are expected.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and piping systems is expected.
- Highly analytical with great attention to detail;
- Demonstrated strong communication skills;
- Collaborative and interpersonal skills;
- Must be self motivated and proactive to seek methods to change and /or enhance plant environment.
- Willing to work shift work (Dupont schedule).
- Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License.

Pay: $30,048.58 - $117,403.53 per year
