Job Summary:

The Plant Operations Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of an industrial manufacturing plant. This role ensures that production targets are met efficiently, safely, and in accordance with quality standards. The Plant Operations Director will lead teams, manage budgets, enforce compliance with regulatory requirements, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize productivity and cost-effectiveness. This position requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, along with technical knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Leadership: Plan, organize, and oversee all manufacturing operations to ensure the plant runs efficiently and meets production goals.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage plant staff, including hiring, training, and performance management. Develop a positive culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Production Oversight: Monitor production metrics such as output, quality, and waste to ensure alignment with business goals. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to minimize downtime.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure that the plant operates in compliance with all applicable safety, health, environmental, and regulatory standards. Lead safety initiatives to reduce risks and promote a safe work environment.
  • Cost Control & Budgeting: Develop and manage the plant's budget, focusing on cost-effective operations. Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to optimize plant processes, enhance productivity, and reduce operational costs.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure products meet or exceed quality standards through effective monitoring and process control. Collaborate with the quality team to address any deficiencies.
  • Maintenance & Asset Management: Oversee the maintenance of equipment and ensure timely repairs or replacements to avoid disruptions in production.
  • Supply Chain Coordination: Work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure the timely delivery of raw materials and the efficient dispatch of finished products.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports to senior management on plant performance, including production, quality, safety, and financial metrics.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, industrial management, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies.
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and analyze production metrics.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and other plant management software.
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in industrial management or business administration (MBA).
  • Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and other industry certifications.
