Leo Gaev Metalworks produces complex and highly desired architectural metalwork in the region, has a waiting list for new projects, and is highly selective of the work we accept.
We are a small, owner led company, that has been growing for the last 18 years. Our clients are general contractors and architects, and we create one-of-a-kind metalwork for high-end custom homes, restaurants, public art, and in municipal and institutional settings. Some of our projects takes hundreds of hours to complete and we execute every detail, from site measuring through installation. The work is rigorous, creative, repetitive, mentally demanding, and extremely gratifying. We are a small team and enjoy the collaborative spirit the comes from accomplishing large, complicated, and multi-faceted projects, safely, efficiently, and under a deadline.
The Designer/Drafter will review architectural plans to create itemized lists of components, 3D models, and fabrication drawings. The Designer/Drafter should have an understanding of basic metalworking materials and processes to create accurate and effective fabrication drawings. The Designer/Drafter should also know or be able to learn typical fastener specifications, construction standards and weld details. Other responsibilities of the Designer/Drafter would include: site visits to verify as built dimensions, ordering materials and supplies, and general office/administrative work in the office.
- min 1 year experience using Solidworks consistently and professionally
- min 1 year experience as a designer or drafter in the metal working, architectural, construction or engineering fields
- Ability to read architectural and structural engineering plans.
- Excellent problem solving skills
- To be very detail oriented and proficient tracking multi-part assemblies with precision.
- Ability to work as a team, anticipate problems with a job, acknowledge mistakes, quickly find solutions.
- Conduct design reviews and make necessary revisions based on feedback.
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
