ELG Utica Alloys is a business unit of the ELG Group. Here ,mainly Titanium, and Nickel-Cobalt base alloy scraps are professionally recycled - sorted, sized, cleaned, precisely analyzed, and certified according to the individual requirements of our customers. In parallel to the traditional trading, ELG Utica Alloys also offers its customers, mainly companies from the aerospace industry, logistics and processing services as part of a global or local closed loop program.

**THE ROLE**:
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:
1. Develop and implement programs and effective communications to drive right behaviors and best practices to continuously improve the overall culture as related to EH&S

2. Provide support and guidance to production and maintenance personnel on occupational health and safety issues.

3. Act as the primary contact for dealing with all local, state and federal agencies such as OSHA and CT DEEP

4. Monitor the site on a regular basis to evaluate compliance with all local, state and federal EH&S regulations, and play a key role in the ownership of compliance related activities.

5. Work collaboratively with operations and maintenance management to implement site-specific programs, policies, and procedures as well as the development and deployment of required training programs In line with Corporate Standards

6. Work collaboratively with leadership to calculate EH&S leading and lagging indicator metrics and associated reporting.

8. Work collaboratively with operations and maintenance management to anticipate, recognize, evaluate and control occupational health hazards, i.e. industrial hygiene related issues and concerns.

9. Provide leadership and support for incident investigations to ensure they are properly classified and fully investigated to identify root causes and drive the implementation of corrective actions.

10. Assist in the safety evaluation of new projects, equipment, and ventures; evaluate and recommend actions to improve safety performance and to reduce risk. Participate in any process safety reviews conducted on site operations.

11. Provide leadership and support for the emergency response team and all emergency response team activities.

12. Provide leadership and support for site safety committee activities, which includes regular and periodic meetings.

13. Develop and deploy EH&S trainings as needed, for both compliance and continuous improvement.

14. Work collaboratively with local management and corporate health and safety to develop and execute annual EH&S strategies, events and other activities

**COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS**:
1. Bachelors’ Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental or Safety Engineering, or closely related degree required.

2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading EH&S in an industrial setting.

3. Minimum of 3 years training and management experience (plant or department management)

4. Required, previous experience in a Union Shop environment.

5. Prior experience in leading and/or conducting internal investigations including root-cause analysis, SIF, and PSIF investigations.

6. Demonstrated experience in implementing environmental health and safety programs and effective training curriculum.

7. Proficient in all aspects of occupational health and safety and industrial hygiene.

8. Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including the plant floor, as well as customers and outside professionals.

9. Demonstrated project management and ability to deliver effective EH&S-related training.

10. Strong verbal, written, presentation and English language communication skills.

12. Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) not required, but preferred.

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY**:
None.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**:
This is a hands-on position and will work both in an office and factory setting. Factory requires use of PPE (Safety Glasses/Safety Boots/earplugs) and environmental conditions vary. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration as it is necessary to walk the shop floor.
