**POSITION**:
The Purchasing Agent will own purchasing of inventory materials and supplies, non-inventory materials and supplies, and equipment for key business needs. Negotiating lead times and costs with current suppliers and vendors will be a key focus. Researching potential item selections lead times and costs with potential suppliers and vendors and managing inventory of current materials and supplies.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Purchasing Agent is responsible for the following:

- Negotiate lead times and price with suppliers and vendors for all standard inventory materials and supplies.
- Negotiate contracted pricing for preferred vendors for equipment, consumables, and related business needs.
- Conduct research to find the best materials and supplies to improve gross margin.
- Identify and approve new suppliers and vendors.
- Assist with qualifying new suppliers and vendors.
- Conduct inventory to determine which materials and supplies the business needs.
- Track supplier and vendor performance including on time deliveries, quantities, quality, etc.
- Develop, maintain, and present vendor performance.
- Draft, Maintain and Monitor all open purchase orders to ensure on time delivery to satisfy schedule.
- Deliver a weekly purchase order report that indicates the invoice number for all closed orders.
- Ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned orders and report any back ordered or missing products.
- Assisting the Logistics Manager with maintaining inventory levels and materials on a regular basis.
- Interface directly with the Planning & Materials team to identify and execute purchasing strategies to ensure OTD and best price.
- Outline annual purchasing strategies for frequently used raw materials, in conjunction with the Planning and Materials team.
- Identify and implement purchasing process improvements leveraging the use of the Material Resource Planner (MRP).
- Interface across departments as needed to identify purchasing improvement opportunities, both inventory and non-inventory goods.
- Build and retain relationships with primary vendors and build potential secondary vendors relationships.
- Working across departments to effectively approve new vendors.

Contribute outside of principle responsibilities for any other assigned projects or tasks.

**PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members, clients, suppliers, and vendors.
- Negotiation skills to work with suppliers and make better deals for the company.
- An understanding of purchase order software platforms.
- Good attention to detail to ensure all purchase orders are accurate.
- Math skills to make sure all calculations are correct and avoid any unforeseen losses for the company.
- IT skills to troubleshoot essential computer programs.
- Cross functional mindset to contribute outside of key responsibilities.

**EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Bachelors of Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or Procurement Preferred

OR
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)

OR

2 years previous experience.
