**Position Summary**:
The Bakery Director will work closely with Senior Management to define and execute the strategy for the Bakery Department. This entails all aspect of people, product and processes including: purchasing, merchandising, pricing, advertising, product variety, product quality, packaging and staffing. The role of Bakery Director includes formulating and executing key standard operating procedures which when followed, will ensure that Petes Market will be an unparalleled leader in bakery quality and customer satisfaction.

As a category leader, this individual will be responsible for making sure that all PFM bakery department financial expectations are met or exceeded and will drive the sales performance of those departments in conjunction with store management. A strong team member and leader who collaborates well with Petes Market team leaders, as well as our key supplier partners. The Bakery Director will support, inspire and lead the Bakery Department Managers and Bakery personnel. The Bakery Director will uphold Petes Market Four Pillars of: Value, Aesthetic, Quality, and Service.

**Essential Functions and Duties**:

- Creates Bakery programs that separate Petes Market Bakeries as leaders in the Chicagoland market.
- Creates department strategies and standard operating procedures that support the Petes Market brand and overall financial goals.
- Drives product innovation and points of differentiation between Petes Market Bakery and the competition.
- Communicates with Senior Management, keeping all informed of key initiatives.
- Continually reviews new vendor base to ensure that new supply opportunities exist.
- Provides necessary inputs for supply agreements and negotiates deals.
- Monitors compliance of procurement processes and policies.
- Coaches and teaches Bakery Managers on all aspects of the department.
- Acts as a vital communication link to store management teams, employees, and corporate support staff; including but not limited to advertising, pricing, merchandising and marketing.
- Collaborates with Marketing to set weekly ads and other promotional activity.
- Collaborates and communicates with General Managers on Bakery strategies including holiday merchandising and seasonal planning.
- Keep leadership informed of bakery trends and industry innovations.
- Supports bakery team leadership through growth and development.
- Contributes to the development of tactics, processes and policies to drive Procurement goals.
- Responsible for the coordination of new store openings, seasonal sets and promotions for all assigned stores.
- Provides inspirational leadership Performs all other related duties and responsibilities as apparent or as assigned**Education, Certifications, and Qualifications**:

- Valid Food Handler or Sanitation Certificate.
- Four year degree or equivalent experience in a retail bakery department including bakery department management.
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of related experience in Procurement and Management Background in managing complex relationships with suppliers.**Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Strong project manager that can multi task and manage multiple projects effectively. Must be able to work a flexible schedule with various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as determined by the business needs.**Physical Demands and Work Environment**:

- Physical demands include, but are not limited to, frequent use of hands for squeezing motion, bending and twisting wrists, standing in one location, walking, turning, reaching, stooping/bending, squatting, lifting/carrying objects 5 to 40 lbs., pushing/pulling up objects 100 to 200 lbs., hand to eye coordination; occasional lifting objects over 40 lbs. and pushing/pulling up objects 100 to 500 lbs., climbing ladders, stooping and crawling. May be exposed to various temperature changes and work environments.
