This role demands a comprehensive understanding of immigration law and the ability to manage multiple aspects of legal operations effectively. The Sr. Paralegal serves as the pivotal link between our clients, staff, and attorneys, ensuring seamless operations within the firm.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Case Preparation and Document Filing**:

- Assist attorneys in preparing and organizing immigration cases.
- Collect, review, and compile necessary documentation such as forms, supporting evidence, affidavits, and client statements.
- Ensure the accuracy and adherence to specific requirements while drafting immigration forms and petitions.
- Draft motions and memoranda as directed by attorneys.
- Conduct checks before submitting cases for attorney review.
- Obtain declarations and evidence from respondents within set deadlines.
- Send out biometric requests immediately after filing I-589s in court.
- Annotate form submission dates and monitor all case deadlines in DocketWise.
- Ensure the quality of client submissions and maintain organized digital and physical case files.
- Upload and manage documents in Google Drive and DocketWise, ensuring proper labeling and tracking.
- Keep tabs on cases assigned to contractors, maintain communication, and update DocketWise with contractor case progress.
- Contact contract attorneys to ensure all court cases are covered and for case reviews when the CEO is unavailable.

**Client Communication**:

- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates and responding to inquiries.
- Regularly update clients via the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on case progress and inform them of any major updates or outstanding balances.
- Annotate all client interactions in DocketWise for comprehensive record-keeping.
- Train junior staff on effective communication with clients.

**Legal Research**:

- Conduct extensive research on immigration laws, regulations, and procedures, as needed for lawyer brief writing.
- Secure contract lawyers for brief writing, when necessary.
- Stay updated on changes in immigration policies and conditions that may impact cases.
- Research country conditions for asylum cases to support legal arguments.

**Case and Calendar Management**:

- Manage the court calendar to ensure all deadlines and court dates are met.
- Schedule appointments, interviews, and court appearances for clients and attorneys.
- Monitor and update hearing dates, ensuring attorneys are informed promptly.
- Prepare attorney folders and file documents to the Court and DHS as required.
- Ensure case deadlines are marked in the calendar and kept by assigned staff.

**Legal Writing**:

- Draft routine correspondence, legal memos, cover letters, and prepare motions and correspondence for court proceedings.

**Client Follow-Up**:

- Notify clients of any important updates or requests for additional information.

**Research and Analyze Case Issues**:

- Assist attorneys in analyzing complex legal issues and identifying potential challenges, proposing effective solutions.

**Continuing Education**:

- Participate in seminars, workshops, and training programs to stay informed about the latest changes in immigration law.

**Collaboration and Teamwork**:

- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure efficient case management and client satisfaction.
- Train and mentor paralegals, and develop training programs as needed.
- Hire and supervise junior staff, ensuring they are effectively integrated into the team and well-trained.

**Ethics and Professionalism**:

- Uphold confidentiality and professionalism, adhering to ethical guidelines and responsibilities.

**Database and Software Management**:

- Utilize legal software such as DocketWise to track case progress, deadlines, and maintain client information.
- Ensure accurate data entry and document storage.

**Additional Responsibilities**:

- Oversee legal staff and processes of the legal team
- Decision-making as approved by the CEO

**Qualifications**:

- Proven experience in legal operations, preferably in immigration law.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficient in legal software and case management systems.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
