Position Information
Serves as a member of the CNAS Graduate Student Affairs Center advising team. Assists with the operation and improvement of the Center. The position has direct responsibility for two or three of the Graduate Programs within the Center (Applied Statistics; Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; Biophysics; Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology; Earth and Planetary Sciences; Entomology; Environmental Sciences; Environmental Toxicology; Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology; Genetics, Genomics and Bioinformatics; Microbiology; Neuroscience; Plant Biology; Plant Pathology; Statistics; UCR/SDSU Joint Doctoral Program in Evolutionary Biology). Carries out curriculum advising; graduate admissions; recruitment and outreach; student enrichment and academic development activities; matriculation and graduation degree checks; and program reporting and evaluation. Responsible for interpretation and implementation of appropriate policies, regulations, and procedures. Works closely with Department Chair or Program Director and Graduate Advisor to develop short-term and long-term goals to meet the advising needs of the growing number of graduate students. Identifies emerging student affairs and programmatic issues and makes recommendations for positive outcomes. The major functional areas of responsibility include: 1) Advising and administration of continuing graduate students; 2) Admissions; 3) Recruitment and outreach; 4) Financial support; and 5) Program development and management. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and fairness in administering standards and procedures for the various programs. Advises faculty, staff and students regarding policies and procedures in all aspects of graduate student affairs. Works closely with multiple business offices.
The full salary range for the Student Services Advisor 3 is $54,200 - $93,200 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $67,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
