**About the Role**: W. L. Gore and Associates is looking for a Pathology Technician to be employed as a member of the Biosciences’ Pathology team that supports the development of state-of-the art implantable medical devices, including but not limited to vascular grafts, endovascular and interventional devices, cardiac devices, surgical meshes and sutures. This person will have demonstrated the ability to perform post-mortem examinations of various laboratory animal species and humans, accurately perform data entry activities, and "gross-in” specimens in preparation for histological processing. They will also demonstrate the ability to perform various laboratory procedures including, but not limited to, histomorphometry, digital radiography, and tissue perfusion, as well as excellent attention to detail and accuracy, ability to effectively manage their time, have a growth mindset, be an excellent team player and have excellent communication skills.

This role will be located at our facility in Flagstaff, Arizona.

**Responsibilities**:

- Primary responsibility is post-mortem examination of various laboratory animal species to include comprehensive macroscopic examination of organs, tissues, and devices; accurate and concise data entry into appropriate forms and support ex vivo (including cadavers) and animal model development efforts
- Collect histomorphometric data using a quantitative image analysis system (Bioquant)
- Support research (explant) scientists and anatomic pathologists with intaking clinical specimens, initial clinical specimen communications, and archiving clinical and experimental studies
- Support histotechnicians/histotechnologists and anatomic pathologists with grossing experimental specimens (tissues, devices)
- Participate in writing/reviewing/revising standard operating procedures (SOPs) and supporting quality assurance unit associates with internal/external audit activities
- Perform various laboratory procedures (tissue profusion, digital x-ray operation, etc.)
- Collaborate with appropriate associates such as pathologists, pathology specialists, histotechnicians, study directors, research scientists, veterinarians, nonclinical research technicians, and engineers as part of daily activities
- Knowledge of and adherence to good laboratory practice (GLP) guidelines
- The role requires execution of procedures driven by Animal Welfare Act compliant research protocols and standard operating procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities as required within the scope of the position

**Required Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's of Science in Biology or related Life Science OR Associate’s Degree in Biology or related life science with experience in animal and/or human anatomy
- Experience in a laboratory setting
- Working knowledge of laboratory animal and/or human anatomy
- Minimum 1 year of demonstrated documentation and data collection experience in a laboratory, clinical or regulated environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills- Ability to work independently as well as with a small team- Demonstrated ability to foster an inclusive environment that engages and empowers fellow associates
- Ability to lift approximately 50lbs independently, and 80lbs with assistance

**Desired Qualifications**:

- Experience in working in a quality system
- Experience in performing necropsy and or tissue dissection
