**Job Summary**:
A MIS Data Specialist is responsible for managing patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, ensuring accurate and timely updates, and handling various administrative tasks related to medical records and billing.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**EHR Management**:

- Admit clients into the EHR.
- Open new intake files and manage the Pending Intake Report.
- Update client information as required, including reporting units and note funding changes.
- Admit and update client episodes.

**Claims and Billing**:

- Work on the Claims with Problems Preventing Invoicing dashboard to ensure successful claiming.
- Review, analyze and correct claims returned for various denial reasons.
- Coordinate with staff to correct and resubmit required documentation.
- Handle MediCal eligibilities and manage authorizations (Provider Connect).
- Coordinate with Office Ally claims clearinghouse for other healthcare coverage and adjudicate/post payments.
- Manage voids and denials, including creating reports as requested.
- Track and manage batching totals.

**Communication and Coordination**:

- Coordinate and follow up with staff for documentation corrections.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Submit and follow-up on Heat tickets to Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health and EHR vendor.
- Upload documents sent by staff into the EHR.
- Update programs and evidence-based practices.

**Intake and Discharge Management**:

- Manage the intake list and discharge clients as necessary.
- Update clients on the Medi-Cal website.
- Provide Quality Assurance clearance daily.

**User and Documentation Management**:

- Manage Exym users and the medi-Cal list.
- Manage the intake list and other relevant documentation.

**Reporting**:

- Prepare and submit various reports as requested by management, including denials and PowerPoint presentations.

**Added Tasks**:

- Clearance to add clients into Exym.
- Attend meetings and manage dashboard-related reports.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical records or health information preferred.
- Experience with EHR systems and medical billing.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Familiarity with Medi-Cal, Exym Electronic Heath Record (EHR) and Office Ally claims processes is a plus.

**Work Environment**:

- Office setting with regular use of computer systems.
- Collaboration with various departments and staff members.

This role is critical to maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of patient records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and facilitating effective communication within the healthcare team.
