PPSD employs more than 3,200 professionals who work in and provide support to our schools, which include 20 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 11 high schools, and 2 public district charter schools. Of our employees, about 2,000 are educators, and over 600 others directly support our schools' students and families.Our schools are diverse learning communities. Approximately 68% of our students are Latinx, 15% Black, 7% White, 4% Asian, 5.5% Multi-racial and 1% Native American. Approximately 40% of students are multilingual, and about 16% receive special education services. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. Our students and families speak more than 55 languages and hail from 91 countries of origin.The Director of Coaching and School Based Professional Learning is a critical lever in improving student achievement. The Director's role is to work with the Principals and Transformation Officers to build teacher capacity and their understanding of instructional practices related to learning and assessment. An instructional coach is a learner who models continuous improvement and lifelong learning and goes above and beyond to ensure student success. The Director of Instructional Coaching will work collaboratively across divisions to promote reflection, provide guidance and structure where needed, and focus on strengths, collaboration, and common issues of concern. They will ensure high quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, and providing feedback to teachers.

**EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Rhode Island District Level Administrator Certificate - Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment and Building Level Administrator **and** the following**:
- Content Certification-

- Bilingual or Multilingual Preferred-
- Right to Read Awareness or Proficiency Certificate within two years of hire-
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in the areas of curriculum and instruction and/or administration/educational leadership;-
- 8-10 years outstanding teaching or related experience in working with advanced courses.-
- Previous work with gifted or advanced academics preferred.-

We are hiring someone who believes in all students' capacity to achieve at high levels and can work collaboratively with a diverse set of partners and stakeholders to drive transformative change within and outside of the organization.

We’re looking for someone to:?
- Model classroom lessons daily/weekly for building-level coaches.
- Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the curriculum and varied assessments, the District and building goals, and data analysis.
- Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other coaches.
- Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent with school wide initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.
- Create an articulated observation schedule with the transformation officer principal to observe coaching in action.
- Assist coaches in understanding PPSD mission and core values.
- Provide technical support to collaborative teams.
- Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.
- Support teachers in using data to improve instruction on all levels.
- Assist coaches with planning to support building needs such as lesson pacing, developing differentiated lessons, and selecting best practices to meet their students' needs.
- Support coaches by helping with the strategic way of teaching — share multiple instructional strategies/processes with teachers during planning times.
- Informally observe (non-evaluative) and provide feedback on coaches' professional growth and students’ success.
- Develop staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs.
- Develop coaching plans to ensure student improvement.
- Utilize Adult Learning Theory to motivate adult learners to improve professional practice.
- Contribute to the development systems and structures to improve teacher practice.
- Provide job-embedded informal professional learning beyond the coaching responsibility.
- Submit a weekly coaching log and any pertinent data requests/coaching documentation.
- Help faci
