**DUTIES**: Develop instruments from a theoretical phase through bench testing and final optical assemblies.

Align project timelines with New Product Introduction (NPI) roadmaps and interface with NPI teams to transfer Proof-of-Principle (PoP) systems to R&D.

Analyze, evaluate, and report on new technologies including publications,

Lead multiple projects to conceive, design, develop, prototype, and transfer highly innovative Proof-of-Principle (PoP) systems to R&D for incorporation into the New Product Introduction Process (NPI).

Collaborate with electrical, software, and mechanical engineers to design, procure, and test prototype systems.

Identify new supplies needed to source critical components in support of research projects.

De-risk new features targeted for next generation instrumentation aligned with new product development projects.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
PhD or foreign degree equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field of study plus 2 years of experience in Research & Development, scientific research, product development, or related experience. Employer will also accept a Master’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field of study plus 5 years of experience in Research & Development, scientific research, product development, or related experience as an equivalent alternative.

Must have experience or knowledge of:
Designing precision optical systems;
C++, MatLab, and LabVIEW;
Spectrometry, optics and sensors;
Intellectual property and patents; and

Chemical synthesis and analytics

**Travel**:Willing to travel up to 20% domestic and international.
