**Medical Front Office**

Colon & Rectal Specialists has been caring for patients in the Richmond area for over 100 years. We are a six-surgeon specialty practice with three office locations and two ambulatory surgery centers. We are dedicated to providing the best care possible and that begins with our Front Office Staff.

**Medical Front Office Responsibilities**:

- Serves patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts.
- Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone, and answering or referring inquiries.
- Optimizes patients’ satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
- Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient’s arrival, reviewing service delivery compared to schedule, and reminding providers of service delays.
- Comforts patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties, answering patients’ questions, and maintaining the reception area.
- Ensures availability of treatment information by maintaining electronic health records and surgery files.
- Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
- Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information, recording and collecting patient charges, controlling credit extended to patients, and filing, collecting, and expediting third-party claims.
- Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, and scheduling equipment service and repairs.
- Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

**Travel**:

- Possible local travel between offices required with supported surgeon schedule, 2-3 times per week with reimbursed mileage.

**Work Hours & Benefits: 8:30 - 4:30 Monday through Friday.**
- $15.50 to $17 per hour (Exp/Education Based)

**Medical Receptionist Qualifications / Skills**:

**Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements**:

- 3-5 Years of experience in Medical Front Office work preferred.
- University/college degree and/or Medical Front Office vocational training a plus.
- Familiarity with VoIP phone systems.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Office software.
- Experience with practice management software and electronic health records. Practice uses Modernizing Medicine's gGastro Suite.

Three office location: Henrico, Stony Point, Mechanicsville

Typical start time:

- 8:15 AM

Typical end time:

- 4:30 PM
