**Job Summary**

Responsible for raising the image, visibility and reputation of an assigned area within Memorial Hermann through a proactive program of media relations, internal and external communication, reputation management and advocacy building. Manages internal and external communications, builds relationships with key stakeholders, and identifies issues.
**Minimum Qualifications**
**Education**:Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communication, or related field; Master's degree preferred.**
**Licenses/Certifications**:(None).**

**Experience / Knowledge / Skills**:

- ** 10 years of professional experience in media, public relations or organizational communications field including five (5) years of management experience and experience leading and managing multifunctional teams.**:

- ** Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) including speechwriting; proficiency with PowerPoint presentations.**:

- ** Excellent interpersonal skills with all levels of leadership, plus strong project management and organizational skills**:

- ** Demonstrates commitment to the Partners-in-Caring process by integrating our culture in all internal and external customer interactions; delivers on our brand promise of "we advance health" through innovation, accountability, empowerment, collaboration, compassion and results while ensuring one Memorial Hermann.**

**Principal Accountabilities**
- ** For the remainder of calendar year 2024, this individual will be highly involved in leading communications for the system's transition to a new electronic health record platform (Epic); previous experience overseeing communications for a health system's or a hospital's transition to Epic is strongly preferred**:

- ** Following the system's successful Epic implementation, this individual will transition to be a leader on the system's internal communications team**:

- ** Anticipates and identifies issues, opportunities and threats to the company's image; recommends strategic courses of action; and develops and implements comprehensive communications plans to enable the achievement of company objectives.**:

- ** Manages strategic, two-way communications with stakeholders including media, employees and professional/trade organizations including: Media Outreach, Social Media, Message Creation and Delivery, and Coalition Development and Advocacy Building.**:

- ** Develops and executes aggressive internal and external communications strategies.**:

- ** In coordination with System Communications leadership, manages crisis communications; serve as primary spokesperson.**:

- ** Media trains executives.**:

- ** Writes speeches and creates presentations for executives.**:

- ** Promotes teamwork and a spirit of cooperation.**:

- ** Recruits, hires, trains, evaluates, and mentors staff.**:

- ** Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.**:

- ** Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.**:
