About the Department of Emergency Management

We are looking for motivated individuals to rise to the occasion Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management prepares for, responds to, and recovers from large-scale community disasters. Security Services is a division within the Emergency Management Department that provides specialized armed security services and executive protection to our County leaders and ensures the safety of County facilities and property. Some of our partners include local and state governments, industry leaders, universities, and community organizations active in disasters. A few of our unique programs are Securing the Cities (STC), which is a preventative radiological and nuclear detection program that partners with law enforcement agencies and fire departments to enhance their radiation detection capabilities by providing equipment, training, and plan development support. Also, we are responsible for offsite planning for the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. Other Requirements- Valid Arizona driver's license upon hire- Completion of FEMA IS-100, IS-200, ICS-300, ICS-400, IS-700, IS-800, IS-120.c, IS-230.d, IS-235.c, IS-240.b, IS-241.b, IS-242.b, IS-244.a, and IS-2200 or the ability to complete within one year of the hire date- Experience utilizing National Incident Management System (NIMS), Incident Command System (ICS), Comprehensive Preparedness Guide (CPG) 101, and Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)

We Also Value- Experience working in local, state, tribal, or federal emergency management- Experience working in an Emergency Operations Center during a disaster or emergency- FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS) and Advanced Professional Series (APS) Certificates of Completion- Experience working with and maintaining radiological detection equipment/supplies, to include detectors, isotope identifiers and rad/nuc sources- Knowledge of Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) basics to include on and off-site incident planning and response.- Knowledge of preventative radiological/nuclear detection planning and response.- Project Management certification and/or demonstrated project management experience- Experience working in a State or Local level EM office or position, which demonstrates strong collaboration/coordination/involvement with Federal, state, and/or other local-level public safety agencies

Job Contributions- Develop, coordinate, and evaluate emergency operations plans and/or continuity of operations plans of the County and support jurisdictional partners with emergency planning- Assist in preparing and coordinating the County's all-hazards emergency and disaster-related preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery plans and standard operating procedures/guides- Conduct and support community all-hazards education and outreach activities through community outreach and development of public awareness content in coordination with the Departmental Public Information Officers- Serve as the department's program manager for a variety of programs which may include the Flood Program Manager, Continuity of Operations Program Manager, Local Emergency Planning Committee Coordinator, and Hazard Mitigation Coordinator.- Develop, coordinate, and/or conduct all-hazards training and exercises, to include annual wildland fire, flooding, and Continuity of Operations Plan exercises- Coordinate the County’s Wildland Fire Prevention Program to include fuel reduction projec
