Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis - every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.
**About This Role**
**What You'll Do**:
- Assessment of insurance remittances including deductibles, contractual write-offs, recoupments, refunds, interest payments and post them efficiently and accurately.
- Cash payment posting for self-pay accounts
- Monitor payment trends and identify nonpaid claims, forwarding denials to Patient Account Representative II.
- Ensures payments posted match batch report totals and troubleshoot discrepancies as necessary.
- Review overpaid accounts and prepares to process refunds, adjustments, etc. to bring account to appropriate balance.
- Perform daily, systematic reviews of work lists to ensure all accounts to be worked are completed.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service through oral and written communication in providing assistance/expertise to patients, authorized guarantors, and other external and internal contacts.
- Practice HIPAA privacy standards and ensure compliance with patient health information privacy practices.
- Provide individual contribution to the overall team effort of achieving the department accounts receivable goals.
- Identify opportunities for system and process improvement and submit to management.
- Demonstrate proficient use of systems and execution of processes in all areas of responsibilities.
- Assist the Revenue Cycle Supervisor with special projects and other duties as assigned, as necessary.
**Who You Are**:
- Have a High School Diploma.
- Have 2 years related work experience or college degree.
- Have a background in electronic reconciliation processes.
- Have working knowledge of physician and facility billing including understanding of insurance rules and regulations
- Have knowledge of HIPAA standards.
- Have excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension and expression.
- Have basic knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices.
- Have the ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion
- Have the ability to learn and adapt quickly and meet continuous timelines. Have 2 + years college or college degree. (preferred)
- Have two (2) years progressive work experience in a hospital/ physician billing or SBO environment. (preferred)
- Are detail-oriented, good organizational skills, and ability to be self-directed. (preferred)
- Have strong time management skills, managing multiple priorities and a heavy workload in a high-stress atmosphere. (preferred)
- Have flexibility to perform other tasks as needed in an active work environment with changing work needs. (preferred)
- Have high-level problem solving, analytical, and investigational skills. (preferred)
- Have excellent internal/external customer service skills. (preferred)
