Medical Assistant Supervisor

**General Summary**: Supervise clinical staff and provide patient care to ensure clinical excellence and client satisfaction. Responsible for the planning, organizing and directing of the clinical staff. Works collaboratively with all staff, supervisors, and physicians. Analyzes and evaluates services to improve quality of care while enhancing a teamwork approach to active problem solving.
- Supervise all clinical staff in the medical practice on delivery of patient care to ensure patient satisfaction
- Develop and maintain goals and objectives, standard of practice, policy and procedure manual for the clinical staff
- Coordinate all services of laundry, medical supplies and other services utilized in the clinic
- Provide patient care to patients in exam rooms with the direction of the physicians
- Cross train staff in clinical, x-ray and front desk duties as needed
- Provide for staff development and in service education
- Develop, revise and implement clinical policies and procedures working with other departments to ensure a successful implementation
- Conduct annual performance appraisals, recommends goals and changes in responsibility and work processes and recommend increases
- Coordinate orientation schedules for new staff
- Assume responsibly and take initiative for problem solving and decision making with clinical staff and other department supervisors
- Delegate authority as appropriate to qualified staff members
- Maintain all records, reports and logs to meet accrediting requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient records, conditions and outcomes within the practice
- Perform other duties as needed/requested.

The company requires all employees to be available for work at any of the offsite locations as needed.

**Job Qualifications**:

- Ability to provide direction, coordination and evaluation of patient care
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present oneself as well as the company in a professional manner
- Ability to identify problems, find facts, problem solve and recommend solutions
- Ability to educate and motivate staff
- Maintain open and positive communication with all employees, patients and clients
- Provide ongoing evaluation of staff
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and direct the work of others
- Ability to work with all departments and personnel levels

**Knowledge**:

- Knowledge of management and organizational theory to supervise the operation of the department including principles of employee development to train, delegate and mentor staff
- Knowledge of medical safety practices and requirement to evaluate existing standards and implement new procedures

**Minimum Education and Experience**:

- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a clinical outpatient setting
- Must have a registered nurse degree, associate’s degree in nursing, or sufficient outpatient clinical experience
- Must be certified in CPR
- Must be able to operate x-ray equipment, fluoroscan, autoclave, ultrasound, surgical instrument, cast saw, electronic medical records and office equipment as needed

**Working Conditions**:

- Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances
- May be exposed to patient elements, ie illnesses
- Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness, surgeries)
- Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
- Handles emergency or crisis situations
