The Lecturer Fire/Arson Investigation Coordinator position is a non-tenure track position that is responsible for the ongoing coordination and management of the Fire Arson Investigation concentration within the Fire Science BS program. The Lecturer will be a responsible partner with the Department Chair in the day-to-day logístical management of the program.

**You will**:

- Under the supervision of the Chair, Department of Fire Science & Emergency Management, lead and direct the up to date/development and maintenance of the Fire/Arson curriculum.
- Communicate program plans and needs to the department chair and others with long-range planning.
- Serve as lead faculty and teach regularly in the program.
- Serve as Internship Coordinator for Fire/Arson Investigation concentration students and establish sites and internship sponsors, match students to internships.
- Attend open houses, accepted student days, and departmental tours or similar recruiting events.
- Work with Fire Science Club Executive Board to recruit Fire/Arson Investigation guest speakers and related demonstrations for the Fire Science Club members.
- Provide academic advisement to students.
- Supervise graduate student workers and graduate assistants.
- Coordinate recruiting and retention efforts with staff.
- Other such duties and responsibilities as requested or assigned.

**You need**:

- Master's Degree in closely related discipline with considerable experience in the Fire/Arson Investigation field required for non-tenure track appointment.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in the field of fire investigation.
- Member for a minimum of 5 years of the International Associate of Fire Investigators.
- Hold CFEI (Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator) through NAFI.
- Experience and ability to teach in the field of fire investigation, fire code, fire administration and emergency management.
- Evidence of successful college/university teaching.
- Commitment to quality assessment in education.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and leadership skills.
- Strong commitment to quality customer service.
- Proven ability to work as a contributing and collegial member of a team and to communicate proactively within the team environment.
- Ability to work with multiple deadlines and multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to adapt and to solve problems proactively and creatively.
- Experience with Canvas or similar learning management systems.
- Higher education online teaching experience (proof required upon request).
- Demonstrated project management skills (proof required upon request).
- Commitment to working effectively with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.

**Preferred Qualifications and Skills**:

- Masters degree in closely related discipline.
- Significant knowledge of and/or experience in the professional field of fire/arson investigation.
- Online teaching experience.
- Experience with Canvas.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 921 - Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations (latest CT approved edition).
- Worked/assisted as Fire Marshal/Deputy/Investigator or Inspector (5 year minimum).
