Time Commitment: PT, no more than 30 hours per week

**Organization Summary**: Food Rescue US is a non-profit food rescue organization committed

to reducing food insecurity in the United States and reducing the harmful impact of food

waste on the environment. Volunteers rescue donated fresh, usable food that would have

otherwise been thrown away from restaurants, markets and other food industry sources and

deliver it directly to social service agencies that feed the food-insecure families throughout

the U.S. We diligently pursue this mission, and strive to have our work reflect our values of

community, passion, innovation, simplicity, and gratitude.

**Job Summary**: Food Rescue US (foodrescue.us) - Northwest CT is searching for a strong

leader to co-manage a well established and vibrant food recovery program in Litchfield

County. The site was established in 2016 and has provided over 2 million pounds of food or

over 2.4 million meals to the community. They partner with 69 different food donors, serve

44 different social service agencies, and have 250 volunteers in their network. The Site

Director is responsible for the management of the day to day operations and strategic vision

for the Northwest CT site.

This role is primarily about developing and managing relationships with food donors,

receiving agencies, volunteers, and related community groups. While most of the work can

need to be handled in a timely manner. Most importantly, the local site director role requires

a passion for addressing the issue of food insecurity and food waste and for utilizing the

Food Rescue US software as an effective solution to addressing these two crises. Food

Rescue US - Northwest CT currently does just under 50 rescues per week and we look to

constantly grow the program.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**
- Lead, oversee and direct all aspects of existing business in Northwest CT: food

donors, social service agencies, volunteers
- Manage the Food Rescue US software: ensure all food donor and agency accounts are

accurate, pull and analyze reports when necessary. Utilize software to send

communications to the volunteers.
- Create, manage and maintain a digital schedule on the Food Rescue US app for food

rescues that meet the needs of food donors and receiving agencies and utilize

software as a communications and data management tool
- Recruit a volunteer network to fill the daily food rescue schedule and maintain their

engagement through volunteer events and relationship building; identifying high

impact, high touch, and volunteers with greater potential
- Attract, engage, and manage volunteers interested in additional projects and

responsibilities.
- Set and attain goals for growth performance of food donors and receiving agencies:
identify and recruit new allies, maintain communication with contacts, sporadically

confirm success of donation experience
- Check in with donors to maintain a positive relationship and maximize donations. For

example, present at donor staff team meetings to increase donation variety and

improve rescue experience for volunteers.
- Increase awareness of Food Rescue US through social media, quarterly newsletters,

local speaking engagements, media opportunities and participation in local events

that are relevant to the mission
- Become an active participant in the local environmental sustainability and social

justice community by sitting in on monthly collaborative meetings and attending

general networking events
- Occasionally participate in grant interviews, meetings, and award ceremonies; Review
- Occasionally participate in fundraising efforts and conversations

**Qualifications**:

- Work experience with a track record of successful program management and

relationship building
- Easily able to adapt to new and developing computer software as the Food Rescue US

platform is technology based
- Good written skills, oral communication skills, and public speaking skills
- Ability to be proactive, problem-solve and stay highly organized
- Capable of maintaining and organizing multiple projects and be self-directed to

prioritize
- Ability to be flexible and respond to changing priorities and fluctuating workloads
- Ability to organize people and activities to meet desired objectives; anticipate and

adjust for problems; evaluate progress to stated goals

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $3,000.00 per month
