About the role

The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and executing the safety and occupational health components of personnel, materials, equipment, and working environments. Pursues and implements the most superior safety plans and training systems for Reworld and its Clients. Relative to numerous regulatory influences, the Health and Safety Manager performs internal/external audits and executes corrective actions towards comprehensive compliance assurance.

This position is based in Milwaukee, WI with an estimated 25%+ travel for responsibilities supporting our facilities within the region including sites in Milwaukee, Winneconne, Oshkosh, Kenosha, WI and Cedar Rapids, IA.

**Responsibilities**:
- Investigate, report, and review findings from all near miss reports, accident investigations, or facility inspections.- The Health & Safety Manager will partner with facility leaders in operations and transportation along with corporate Safety to prepare training materials, coordinate weekly and monthly themes, complete incident reports and generate monthly statistics.- Conduct and coordinate training courses in the field for all relevant safety and environmental tasks (Confined Space, HAZWOPER, First Aid & CPR, DOT Hazardous Materials, OSHA 10 Hour, and client specific).- Perform critical employee onboarding and orientation duties.- Ensure corporate programs and procedures are understood and implemented at each facility, including Process Map submission review and reporting, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for significant safety and environmental events, and industrial hygiene monitoring and chemical characterization.- Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.- Peer review of all safety programs for adequacy, compliance, and improvement opportunity.- Consistently remain up-to-date and current with local and federal regulations.- File and manage ongoing workers compensation claims to return with no restrictions. Manage medical related conditions (HAZ Mat Surveillance, Respiratory, Workers Comp & Off Duty).- Assist in the administration of the Drug and Alcohol Policy.- Interface with Risk Control, Captive Insurance, and all Client/Disposal Partner ES&H Representatives.- Perform external auditing (disposal partner and client services) and internal auditing (field projects, truck terminals, wastewater treatment facilities).- Correspond with building and transportation security.- Co-administer E Logs, fleet technologies, and database systems.- Engage SPCC and other forms of emergency response.- Complete onsite and field work observations with teams to provide feedback and make productive suggestions.- Pre-Project evaluations with our teams onsite and in the field to ensure of a safe workplace.

**Requirements**:
- Bachelor of Science in science (biology, chemistry, environmental science, occupational health and safety) or engineering (environmental, chemical, mechanical, industrial hygiene etc.) or similar degree preferred.- Word processing, database, spreadsheet, and power point skills.- Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, ASME and NPPA, DOT regulations, Clean Water Act and RCRA requirements.- Minimum of 5+ years' experience as safety and/or environmental professional responsible for compliance in the areas of OSHA, ANSI, ASME NFPA, DOT standards.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and environmental rules, operating and maintenance instructions, Code of Federal regulation, OSHA regulations and other consensus standards, and procedure manuals.- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.- Excellent statistical and analytical skills, able to work with mathematical concepts and probabilities.
