Life Skills Coordinator

Life Skills Coordinators play a pivotal role in building and sustaining a supportive community for program participants of HeadsUp Fox Cities. Their primary role is to empower participants along their "Personal Path Forward," facilitating goal setting, navigating resources, providing mentorship, eliminating barriers, fostering life skill development, and offering advocacy support. This position requires a commitment to embrace and celebrate the uniqueness of individuals, both staff and transitional age youth, including all genders, ethnicities, cultures, and sexual orientations. This role demands strong abilities in communication and relationship-building, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of community engagement, youth development, and child welfare issues. Life Skills Coordinators are expected to maintain positive professional relationships with other community agencies to ensure seamless access to additional resources for our participants.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

This role is dynamic and will quickly adjust to accommodate the evolving needs of HeadsUp as it expands to address the intersecting challenges of housing instability, resource navigation, and life skill support.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Direct Service**:

- Conduct assessments and individual goal-setting sessions to identify aspirations, strengths, and challenges of young adults who have experienced the child welfare system.
- Provide personalized support and mentorship to help young adults define and work towards their personal, educational, and career goals.
- Assist in resource navigation and accompany participants for warm handoffs to local resources as needed.
- Assist program participants in learning basic life skills.
- Monitor and track progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust strategies as needed to ensure goal achievement.
- Research trends in community collaboration, youth development, and child welfare.
- Attend team meetings and discuss caseload, participant needs, scheduling, community updates and new best practices.
- Ensure program integration and alignment with the organization's overall mission and strategic goals.
- Develop, plan, and attend special events and activities for program participants.
- Record timely and accurate data about direct services and participants.

**Community Collaboration**:

- Work collaboratively with partnering organizations to maintain community based HeadsUp programs.
- Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, organizations, and relevant agencies.
- Attend community meetings, conferences, and events to network and promote the HeadsUp mission and identify potential collaborations.
- Provide guidance and support to partner organizations in implementing collaborative initiatives.
- Assist with community resource fairs and other tabling events and presentations.
- Attend case management meetings at other agencies for collaboration to benefit HeadsUp program participants.
- Communicate in a timely and professional manner.
- Work with intentionality, taking calls to problem solve complicated circumstances with resource navigation and/or barrier removal needs.
- Document and monitor expenses and ensure adherence to financial guidelines.
- Complete assigned training in a timely fashion, as requested by the Program Director.

**Qualifications**:

- Alignment with the HeadsUp Fox Cities mission and vision.
- Lived experience or equivalent work experience.
- A comfort with uncomfortable conversations.
- Criminal background and child abuse clearance checks will be administered prior to participant. interface. Only violent crimes will automatically disqualify applicants; other applicants are encouraged to apply.

- Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
