**THE POSITION**:
**DESCRIPTION OF WORK**:
This program is designed to train individuals for highway design tasks over a period of one year. Your responsibilities include aiding in the creation of highway plans based on field survey data, assisting in drafting and detailing work for highway plans from initial sketches to final working plans, and contributing to the preparation of plans for simpler highway projects like resurfacing, restoration, lane widening, safety improvements, and intersection enhancements. Additionally, tasks involve assisting with basic computations, developing grade lines and gradients, calculating earthwork and material quantities, and plotting roadway and channel templates on cross sections. Lastly, the role entails preparing plans for highway construction, encompassing right-of-way maps, centerline drawings, profiles, topography, cross sections, drainage, and final construction plans.

**Work Schedule and Additional Information**:

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- ** Telework**:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg.
- ** Salary**:_ _**In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Minimum Experience and Training Requirements**:

- An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
