Christie Clinic's accounting department is seeking a payroll accountant at The Leadership Center in Champaign from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

Duties include checking time sheets and payroll data to ensure correct payment of employees, processes payroll, update general ledger accounting information and file appropriate payroll tax returns.

**TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS**:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.

**TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS**:
Work is performed in a normal office environment and may require working irregular hours.

**JOB DUTIES**: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Check time sheets or time clock information for consistency and accuracy, clarifying inconsistencies with supervisors.
- Calculate overtime, differential and other special adjustments and rates for records.
- Calculate tax deductions, benefits and other deductions for unusual or changed payroll data.
- Enter payroll information into computer program.
- Generate payroll checks and distribute or mail paychecks.
- Assist employees in understanding payroll calculations and deductions, investigate problems and make appropriate corrections.
- Provide and coordinate banking information for payroll.
- Use payroll system information to generate appropriate tax documents and filings including quarterly taxes and W2’s.
- Review benefit accruals, pension and other eligibility information, making adjustments as status changes occur.
- Prepare general ledger entries to record payroll information as well as any necessary accruals.
- Prepare and distribute termination checks.
- Assist with payroll related sections of the annual external financial audit
- Work with the payroll bank transferor to ensure that the payroll transfer is submitted to the bank by department and bank guidelines (2 working days before the effective date)
- Review Account Reconciliations for assigned accounts based on frequency by account
- Work with the Accounting Assistant to support this position in payroll processing. Cross-train with this position on key payroll areas to ensure adequate coverage
- Manage and coordinate workers’ compensation audits and provide reconciliation support for 401K audits.
- Perform related work as required.

**Experience**: Preferred
- 2 year(s): Payroll experience (Additional appropriate experience may be substituted)

**Education**: Required
- High School or better

Preferred
- Associates or better in Accounting or related field
