**THE SCHOOL**

Rochambeau, The French International School located in Bethesda, MD, provides a unique education combining the French curriculum with high-quality English instruction to around 1,200 students from ages 2 to 12th grade. **Strategic Leadership**
- Lead strategic initiatives aligned with the school's vision, maintaining its dynamic learning environment and ensuring continuity in the Director's absence. This responsibility requires the Deputy Director to step in seamlessly during the Director's absence, providing leadership, guidance, and decision-making to ensure that the school continues to function effectively.
- Work with the Head of Secondary School to create the school timetable (Pronote)
- Define examination timetables and invigilation schedules for the MYP and IB in coordination with the exam officer.
- Represent the Secondary School at school events where necessary.
- In coordination with the Vie Scolaire and the assistant of the secondary director, ensure adequate teacher coverage by overseeing the daily internal substitution system.

**Academic Oversight and Program Excellence**
- Ensure all academic programs align with educational standards and objectives, monitoring student progress to enhance achievement.

**Faculty Recruitment and Staff Development**
- Work closely with the Director to monitor the standards and quality of teaching and learning within the Secondary School (including class observations...)
- Provide tailored professional development opportunities, particularly in IB program delivery, fostering a culture of continuous growth.

**Student Welfare and Community Engagement**
- Cultivate a safe, supportive learning environment, addressing disciplinary issues promptly. Strive to Increase parental involvement in school activities.

**Data-Informed Decision Making**
- Oversee the school's reporting system (Pronote) and work alongside the Head of the Secondary School to ensure that it is smooth and accurate. This includes final proofreading of reports before they are issued.
- Review academic transcripts in liaison with the Registrar.

**Attendance & Punctuality**
- Reliable, consistent attendance is required and an essential function of all staff positions. Employees must be punctual and dependable to meet their department and Rochambeau’s needs. Work and service are interrupted when employees are absent or tardy, and an additional burden is placed on colleagues. Attendance and reliability are important factors in evaluating individual performance and continued employment.

**Requirements**:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in secondary education administration, with a focus on IB Diploma and MYP programs.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including decision-making, strategic planning, and team management.
- In-depth knowledge of IB educational principles, curriculum development, and assessment practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with faculty, staff, parents, and community stakeholders.
- Experience in staff recruitment, evaluation, and professional development.
- Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive school culture that fosters academic excellence and student well-being.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency in educational technology and data analysis tools.
- Flexibility to work non-traditional office hours including occasional evenings and weekends, as required.
